Community Impact Bucks have a new staff member Tania Orlova, who is the Ukraine Community Support Project Manager. She has announced two new projects:

New language support for Ukrainian refugees in Bucks communities

We are pleased to announce a new initiative which provides volunteer community interpreters to hosts and community groups in the county on a task-by-task basis. Run by the Volunteer Matching Service, volunteer interpreters are available to help in a community setting for example, interpretation at a coffee morning or interpreting on behalf of a host to help settle a family into the home. Both Ukrainian and Russian interpreters are available. For more details, visit Community Support for Ukrainian Refugees.

Sanctuary Foundation’s event: tomorrow evening (Thursday 23^rd/ 7.30-8.30pm)

If you would like the opportunity to meet me virtually, I will be speaking at an event hosted by the Sanctuary Foundation tomorrow (Thursday 23^rd June 2022/ 7.30-8.30pm).  Supporting Ukrainian Refugees – A Marathon not a Sprint is an online event looking at:

• how to avoid compassion fatigue among hosts
• how to have difficult conversations when language is a problem
• how to better understand Ukrainian culture and more.

This national seminar will draw on the expertise of those who have experience in supporting refugees, secondary trauma, hospitality, self-care, and practical support.
