Opora UK

About

Opora aim to provide both emergency and long-term support to Ukrainians and their families who are looking to rebuild their lives in safety, having fled the war.

As well as funding accommodation, travel and supporting Ukrainians in their resettlement through our online support channels, we are also focussed on identifying structural ways to create self-sustainable employment and self-employment opportunities for Ukrainian families to rebuild their livelihoods.

In the UK we also created an online database for sponsors and guests looking to match with each other for the Homes for Ukraine scheme, helping to ensure the government scheme sees successful implementation.

How to welcome Ukrainian refugees into Buckinghamshire

Interactive training session: 14th & 26th April

Dear All,

Community Impact Bucks are running two free 90-minute interactive training sessions for people in Buckinghamshire who are welcoming Ukrainian refugees into their homes or sponsoring their arrival into local communities through the Homes for Ukraine Scheme or the Ukraine Family Scheme on Thursday 14th April (1-2.30pm) and Tuesday 26th April (7.30-9.30pm).

Attendees will learn about good practice in welcoming Ukrainians including empowerment; setting boundaries and their own self-care; learn some basic trauma awareness; learn about basic cultural awareness; and think about confidentiality for those being welcomed into their homes.

As tickets are limited, we will be prioritising people who are already going through the visa process or have already welcomed Ukrainians into their homes.

To book, click on: Thursday 14th April at 1.00 – 2.30 pm
Tuesday 26th April at 7.30 – 9.00 pm

Please note – this training is tailored to hosts and sponsors, and not for charities or community groups which are offering support to Ukrainian refugees in the county but please do share this information through your networks.

Training is delivered on Zoom by Welcome Churches, a UK charity experienced in helping communities welcome refugees. The training is aimed at people of all faiths and none.

Thank you to The Shanly Foundation for providing the funding that makes this training possible.
